Zinc was first determined to be an essential nutrient in humans in the late 1960s, when a study in dwarves showed that zinc supplementation allowed them to gain nearly 6 inches in height within just one year.1
That was a fairly shocking finding in 1967, but it is now well established that zinc is indispensable for cell growth and differentiation. This is partly because zinc is a necessary cofactor for the enzyme DNA Polymerase, which means that zinc is required in order to build or repair your DNA.2
Zinc is a cofactor for many other enzymes as well, including the SOD enzyme, which plays a crucial role in neutralizing toxins in our bodies. Zinc also affects multiple aspects of the immune system, including the function of Natural Killer cells and T-lymphocytes.3,4
Given that zinc is crucial to both immune function and detoxification, it is perhaps not surprising that it’s involved in apoptosis as well.5, 6, 7,8
In a Broadway show, you have the stars, and you have the chorus. In Curos Essential, zinc, magnesium, B5, B6 and methylcobalamin are all part of the chorus. Between them, they are cofactors for hundreds of cellular reactions. Supporting some of those reactions but not others leads to a performance that is just a little bit “off.” Supporting them all keeps everything working in harmony.
